Mike Hamm Coeburn 91?

I was watching channel 19...I saw highlights of Coeburn's Season from 1991...i repeatedly heard the name Mike Hamm and some Plaster guy...this team looked pretty good...I was too young to remember football in 1991...just wondering if any old timers could fill me on the Blue Knights.?

Re: Mike Hamm Coeburn 91?

DANG wish I could see it .. I always love seeing highlights of older games.

I don't know much at all about Mike Hamm but it'd definitely be interesting to see footage of him since he's pretty much the all-time best running back to ever come out of Coeburn.

What made him so good, though? His speed? Power? Or a mixture of both?

And about the Coeburn team of '91 .. what made them so good? Did they rely on running the ball mostly, or a mixture of both running and passing?

Sorry to ask so much, just curious.

(PS - since the original poster was also not sure of the team of '91, hopefully someone that DOES remember them from that time could fill us in .. I'm sure there are at least some people that remember them.)

Re: Mike Hamm Coeburn 91?

Judging from what i watched on TV they had a pretty good balance of Passing and Running but Mike Hamm was a beast. 2,000 yards rushing
Reeking of awesomeness!

the 1990 pv team is the best team ever put on the field in the lpd.maybe even the region.

No offense or anything, but how on earth did Powell Valley suddenly get dragged into this thread?

Re: Mike Hamm Coeburn 91?

Yeah I remember seeing him walking across the bleachers, and he had his jersey in a big frame .. it was definitely neat to see because I don't think I've ever been to a game where anyone else has had their number retired.

Re: Mike Hamm Coeburn 91?

Was at the game at Appy in '91 when Coeburn was the shiznit. Appy opened the game with 2 quick touchdowns, but Coeburn quickly opened the floodgates behind Hamm's running. He was definitely one of the LPD greats.
